Fresh coffee, house-baked goods, and hearty lunches made with love and local ingredients β right in the heart of Austin.
Pull up a chair, warm up by the fire, and let us make your morning (and your afternoon) a little brighter.
Our specials rotate with the seasons and whatever looks best at the farmers market. Here's what we're loving right now.
Flaky, golden, and baked fresh every morning before 6am. Slathered with local Texas honey butter and a pinch of sea salt. Best enjoyed warm with a latte in hand.
$4.50A hearty bowl of slow-simmered black beans with smoked paprika, roasted garlic, and a swirl of sour cream. Served with a thick slice of house cornbread β pure Austin comfort food.
$8.00Our house spin on a Texas classic β creamy horchata blended with double-shot espresso, a dusting of cinnamon, and just a hint of vanilla. Iced or hot, it's an Austin morning in a cup.
$6.75Hi, I'm Mara Lopez β and The Hearth & Bean started the way most good things do: out of a deep love for community and really, really good coffee. I opened our little cafΓ© in the heart of Austin because I wanted a neighborhood spot where everyone feels like a regular on day one. No pretense, no attitude β just honest food and a warm fire to pull up a chair beside.
Our menu is built around simplicity and quality. Every ingredient is sourced locally β we partner with Austin-area farms and bakeries so that what lands on your plate is as fresh as it gets. From the eggs in our breakfast sandwiches to the honey on our croissants, we know where it came from and we're proud of it.
We open early for the morning commuters who need a proper cup before they face the world, and we stay open through lunchtime for the folks who wander in for a bowl of soup and a quiet corner to think. Every person who walks through that door matters to us β you're not just a customer, you're part of the neighborhood.
At The Hearth & Bean, the vibe is always cozy, the coffee is always fresh, and you're always welcome. Come as you are, stay as long as you like, and leave a little warmer than when you arrived. That's the Hearth & Bean promise β and it means everything to us.
A little glimpse into the cafΓ© β the steam, the warmth, the people, and the food that makes it all worth it.
Morning pour-overs, fresh and steaming
Croissants out of the oven at 6am
The fireplace corner β always the coziest seat
Roasted veggie bowls, made to order
Local honey and jams on every table
Our little cafΓ© β right in the heart of Austin
We're a neighborhood place β and these are our neighbors. Their words mean the world to us.
"I stop in every single weekday before heading to the office. The Cinnamon Horchata Latte is unlike anything else in Austin β creamy, bold, and just sweet enough. Mara always remembers my name and has my order started before I even reach the counter. That kind of warmth is rare and I'm so grateful to have this place in my neighborhood."
Javier Ruiz
East Austin commuter, regular since opening day
"My daughter and I have made Saturday mornings at The Hearth & Bean our ritual. She gets the blueberry muffin and I go straight for the avocado toast and a cold brew. The fireplace corner is our spot. It's cozy, unpretentious, and you can feel how much care goes into everything from the food to the way people are greeted. It genuinely feels like home."

Mom & Austin local, South Congress neighborhood
"I'm a freelance writer and I practically live in cafΓ©s, so I know a good one when I find it. The Hearth & Bean checks every box β great Wi-Fi, excellent coffee, incredible soup (that black bean with cornbread is perfection), and a vibe that actually lets you focus without feeling like you're in a library. It's my second office and I wouldn't have it any other way."
